About this category and choosing a product
A fan moves air and can help you feel cooler, but it does not cool a room like an air conditioner. Choose a format for the place where you sit, work or relax.
Compare available models by price, availability, and the control method that suits you.

What to compare
- Height and airflow direction: can the stream reach the intended area without repeatedly moving the appliance?
- Speeds, oscillation and tilt adjustment. For a bedroom, comfort at the lowest speed is particularly important.
- Base dimensions and stability in the intended position. Do not put a floor-standing model on furniture unless the manual permits it.
- A timer and remote, if you want to adjust settings from your seat. These features depend on the model.
Everyday use
Keep curtains clear of the grilles and never insert objects through them. Unplug the fan before cleaning; remove a grille only as the manual describes. Store the appliance dry.
Fan or air conditioner?
Choose a fan for moving air around you. To lower the room temperature, compare portable air conditioners.
