How to cool a room in summer

Close blinds or curtains on sunlit windows and reduce unnecessary indoor heat sources. A fan moves air but does not remove heat from the room. In cooling mode, a portable air conditioner must discharge hot air outdoors through its supplied hose; seal the gap around the window adapter to limit hot-air return.
Reduce the heat entering the room
Shade sunlit windows before the room heats up and switch off unnecessary heat-producing appliances. Keep doors and windows consistent with the equipment's operating instructions; an air conditioner cannot cool effectively if discharged hot air keeps returning.
