Simple cake
Easy home baking without a separate mixer when you fancy something warm with tea.
Use the one stated batch and the Cake programme; do not apply bread loaf-weight settings to it.
This is a simple first batch to get comfortable with. Do not recalculate it from the loaf-weight button, and follow your machine's own loading order if its Cake programme differs.

What happens next
- 1
Measure
Prepare one complete batch without converting it to a loaf-weight setting.
- 2
Load
Follow the sequence and Cake-programme rules for your own machine.
- 3
Bake
Avoid opening the lid unnecessarily while the cake structure is setting.
- 4
Cool
When the cycle ends, let the cake firm up briefly, move it to a rack and slice only afterwards.
If something looks off
There are dry flour pockets
Next time check the loading order and distribute the dry mixture evenly before starting.
The centre sank
Avoid opening the lid early and recheck the baking soda, butter and egg amounts.
The cake is too dark
Use the Cake programme and any crust setting only as your model's instructions describe.
After cooling
Cool completely and keep covered. Because it contains eggs and butter, do not leave it warm for long; freeze in portions for longer storage.
How to enjoy it
Serve plain, with berries or with a light dusting of icing sugar after it cools.

Frequently asked questions
Can I add raisins?
Test the basic batch first. Add extras only at the time and in the amount allowed by your machine's instructions.
Why are there no 500 g, 750 g and 900 g versions?
The source presents the cake as one batch, and bread loaf-weight settings do not transfer to it.
